To Whom It May Concern:
The best day of my “business life” was the day
I discovered Kirk Nelson a.k.a. Design
Intervention in 1988!
In the commercial world of leasing and
property management, there are so many contractors
and vendors to coordinate and as Kirk Nelson has a
full spectrum of skills and creativity, it made my
job much easier.
I used him in so many scenarios…as my
coordinator, contractor, space planner and
designer to name a few.
Over the years, I’ve had many different
types of buildings I was responsible for,
including older buildings and brand new buildings,
high rises, low rises and single story buildings
and in many different cities, requiring knowledge
of their specific codes.
Many of the buildings I managed and leased
were owned by large development companies such as
The Koll Company and The Irvine Company.
In all cases, Kirk worked with my new
tenants to space plan their suite, helped with
color selections of paint and carpet, drew up
plans, acquired city approval and many times was
the contractor for the construction required.
Kirk is expedient, efficient and conscience
about every job no matter how large or small.
He’s helped me select and coordinate
exterior colors, facades, roofs and awnings for
multiple buildings in a business project but has
also given just as much attention to helping me
coordinate colors for paint, flooring and fixtures
for a “common area” restroom.
Many of my projects required “face
lifts” in some form and I always hired Kirk for
advice and coordination minimally.
In summary, I would highly recommend Kirk
Nelson and his company Design Intervention for any
job that requires creativity, architecture, color
selection, design work or construction.
I have used Kirk for work at my home as
well as the commercial buildings I managed and
have never been disappointed in the results.
Sincerely,
Kathy Munz, RPA

Ladies
and Gentlemen:
When my husband and I decided to remodel our drab
backyard, we interviewed several highly
recommended design firms. Each of them listened to
our ideas and then told us (a) why we shouldn’t
do what we wanted to do and (b) why we couldn’t
spend what we wanted to spend, but instead needed
to spend twice as much. All of them
ultimately presented us with designs for outdoor
spaces that were beautiful, but the opposite of
what we wanted—and nothing like the space we
described.
We despaired that we would never find a firm that
would collaborate with us and help us execute our
vision rather than their own design. We were then
introduced to Kirk Nelson and Design Intervention.
Unlike other firms we interviewed, Kirk really
listened to us and our ideas. He was
enthusiastic about our general plan and was
willing and eager to both execute and improve it.
He not only confirmed that our budget was
realistic, but pointed out ways we could use parts
of our existing yard to save time and money. He
continued to listen to us, solicit our ideas and
seek our input at every stage as the project
progressed.
Kirk’s unique ability to combine our ideas with
his own design experience, architectural expertise
and artist’s flare took our project to a level
we had only dreamed about. Our drab backyard went
from a boring, hot, ugly space we avoided (despite
ocean views) to a fabulous outdoor
dinning/lounging/living space that my husband,
kids and myself rarely leave. More importantly,
while we have remodeled rooms in several homes and
have even built a custom home, we have rarely had
a construction experience as pleasant, unobtrusive
and smooth as our overall experience with Design
Intervention and Kirk Nelson. Our experience
was so positive, we asked Kirk and Design
Intervention to work with us on 2 additional
remodeling projects 6 months after the outdoor
space was completed.
One fabulous outdoor living room, two stunning
bathrooms and one really cool breakfast nook
later, we would, without hesitation or
qualification, wholeheartedly recommend and
endorse Kirk Nelson and Design Intervention for
any project.
If you have any questions or desire any additional
information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
